To deepen relations between Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and coordinate positions on security and peace initiatives in the region, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi visited Abu Dhabi in December 2025.
Safadi met with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and security developments in the region.
Discussions included developments in Gaza. They emphasized the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and fully implement its provisions according to the plan of United States President Donald Trump. They stressed the importance of ensuring sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid reaches Gaza and expressed a desire to move toward the second phase of the agreement.
As an example of the strong relations between the two countries, the UAE funded and helped design the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Training City in Jordan, a central hub for training all branches of the Jordan Armed Forces. It opened in March 2020.
Training includes joint military exercises, such as Bonds of Strength and Strong Constants, aimed at enhancing joint combat readiness, integrating operational planning and signaling unified resolve against regional threats.
To strengthen commercial relations, the two parties signed several agreements after setting up a free-trade zone. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement of October 2024 focuses on key sectors such as energy, logistics, tourism and pharmaceuticals.
