Uzbekistan’s efforts to bring global attention to international security issues has boosted its leadership role in the region. Tashkent hosted a high-profile international conference dedicated to implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in early March 2022. The conference brought together leaders from Central Asia, South Asia and Europe, and was an important step toward strengthening regional cooperation to fight terrorism. Reaffirming the United States’s commitment to the security and prosperity of Iraq, Commander of U.S. Central Command Gen. Michael E. Kurilla paid a two-day visit to Iraq in April 2022. During his visit, Gen. Kurilla met with military and civilian leaders, led by then-Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. To enhance access to justice and cope with delays caused by COVID-19, Kuwait installed a video teleconferencing system in its Central Prison in April 2022 to conduct court proceedings in virtual courtrooms. The Kuwaiti Supreme Judicial Council stressed the importance of expediting court proceedings and the necessity of holding sessions to decide unpostponable cases, such as those related to family matters. General Directorate of Strategic Communications, Saudi Ministry of Defense Committed to Islamic principles and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen (CSLY) has been rehabilitating Yemeni children recruited by the Houthi rebels. When child soldiers are fully rehabilitated physically and psychologically in Saudi Arabia, CSLY, through its Children Protection Unit, coordinates with international organizations to reunite them with their families in Yemen.
