The Bahraini-British Joint Military Cooperation Committee met for the 29th time at the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence in London in September 2024.

The meeting was co-chaired by Bahrain Minister of Defense Affairs Lt. Gen. Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi and Chairman of the Middle East Team at the U.K. Ministry of Defence Kashif Shandy.

Discussion topics focused on strengthening joint military cooperation between the Bahrain Defense Force and the British Ministry of Defence through continued exchange of military expertise and unifying military concepts and doctrines.

Continuing productive military engagements, Bahraini Naval Commander Sheikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad received in October 2024 Maj. Gen. Zachary Raymond Stenning, commandant of the British Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Sheikh Isa praised the academy for preparing and qualifying officers, including Bahrainis, to keep pace with the latest developments and innovations in the military and defense field.

The two countries have historically enjoyed strong relations at all levels. Throughout decades of partnership, relations between the two countries have witnessed remarkable development and growth, culminating in the signing of many agreements and memorandums of understanding. Bilateral agreements cover fields such as security, military, technology, economics, culture and education.

Since 2012, British arms exports to Bahrain have steadily increased. More than 400 export licenses worth billions of dollars were approved by the U.K. government for military equipment to Bahrain.
